How to use iPhone in cold weather

When visiting Tallinn we brought only our iPhones to take pictures. But using the touch screen was quite a challenge facing minus 15 degrees Celcius. Jaco likes challenges, so he found a way :-)

A tutorial on how to take pictures with your iPhone when it's freezing cold.

 1. Hit the home button twice. You can do this with your gloves on.

 2. Touch the camera icon with your nose.

 3. Use the right volume button to take a picture. Still comfortably wearing your gloves!!

You could of course forget all this and just buy really cool hand knitted iPhone mittens like Aline did. They have a special flap to cover your fingers when you are not using your iPhone.

Actually the nice old lady who made them didn't have this purpose in mind, she was wearing a pair to keep her fingers warm in between sales. Guess all good designs are multifunctional :-)

Time out in Tallinn

Just took a 2-day pause together in Tallinn, Estonia. Perfect city for it!
What we loved: history all around, but free wifi too. Also:

Cafe restaurant Must Puudel (Black Poodel). Nice atmosphere, retro 70ties design and friendly staff,  good choice of music and piles of interesting satire comics from Sovjet times.
Also at Must Puudle: very decent breakfast for a good price. Yes, we are going back there :-)

Very nice textile. This design by Zizi.

Inspiring illustrations everywhere..

Lovely streets to wander at night. With an occasional hot wine to fight the cold. Or the perfect hot chocolate with a little rum at Cafe Josephine. Cheers :-)

Spoonflower

A few months ago we heard about Spoonflower. Great concept: they print textile on demand. You can choose from thousands of designs and they will print it on the textile of your choice. They have some wonderful organic cotton fabrics and print eco-friendly!
Also: you can upload your own design. So we decided to give it a try, for some projects of our own. We received a yard of the puffin design already and the fabric and print turned out really nice.
We would love to hear your thoughts: would you order at Spoonflower? And what would you use the fabric for? Any suggestions for new designs?

The Art of Packing

Very nice animation by Valins & Co for fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg. Makes us want to pack our bags and go on adventures :-) By the way, we pack lightly and live lightly by choice.. and we LOVE it!

Free counting memory game

We designed a winter counting memory. Because we love winter and we miss it dearly now that it's still a stormy autumn here in Holland.. and because our son loves to count and play games.
You can download and print it for free at MoodKids blog
There is just one extra rule to make the counting even more fun :-)
Match cards with the same value. So you can match two fives, but you can also match a five and the 5 candles, or the 5 candles and the 5 trees.
Hope you'll enjoy it!

DIY candle making at Zilverblauw blog

This wonderful picture is made by Anki who writes a fabulous blog called Zilverblauw. Today she posted an inspiring DIY about how to make candles out of old cups. Nice to find our poster 'Puddle Jumping' on the wall and lovely words about our collection. Thanks Anki!
